bob: And you're an idiot. Judging by the depth of your response it would be pointless to try and have a rational discussion with you. Kind of like matching wits with an unarmed man. I mean, your "knowledge" of the history of WW2 seems limited to watching old war movies on TV.

Tell you what Digger, I'll save you the burden of posting...I'll just put you down for a default setting of "American sucks" whenever you want to post.

That's about as well put FB as anything I've read in a while.

And just to clarify, Buford is up there in the northern part of the state, we maintain a far more genteel sensibility down here in the southern part :)

Although....maybe the German bomb is the one that was set off at Port Chicago. Where's my foil hat?

Miles Encinas: The uranium bomb that the Americans captured from the Germans? Oh please, Fritz! The reason we developed nuclear weapons before the lousy Nazis is because they institutes the clever policy of expelling or running off every Jewish physicist that could design a bomb.

Oh, and they knew Little Boy was going to work because they did the math. But you knew that. If you really want to know how the bombs were designed you can read this book.

Congratulations are in order; your idea that we found Little Boy in Germany, scrubbed off the swastikas and dropped it on Japan is one of the stupidest ideas I've heard so far and that includes Jenny McCarthy on vaccination, Charles Berlitz on the Bermuda Triangle and just about anything from Michelle Bachman

We Germans, huh? You're probably some skinhead writing from Chicago, Illinois or Bayonne, New Jersey or Buford,Georgia here in the States.

Thank you very much Bob,
The Aussies were in just about every theater of the war, same as any American or British servicemen. Not to mention they were the ones who bore the brunt of the fighting in Burma and New Guinea. Also the fact that they landed next to their British counterparts during the D-Day invasion of Europe. And they served with dignity in North Africa. All the while, they were critically short of weapons and ammunition, uniforms and equipment. And, where did you learn your history from? It was British Colonial troops in Singapore that balked and surrendered to the Japanese, not Aussies. The ineptitude of the British Officer Corp made the defeat come even more swiftly.

And German technology was far superior in QUALITY than the Allies, you and the Russians could pump out maybe 10 crappy tanks, while we could put out 4-5 precision made, reliable fighting vehicles that would outlast most others that it came up against. By the way, by the time the Shermans got to Europe to actually fight against our Panzers, they were obsolete. How many Shermans did it take to knock out ONE Panther, Tiger, or Tiger II? Hmm, about 7-8 of them. And Russian tanks were better armored and armed, but they didn't have radios! How stupid! They couldn't even communicate with one another to co-ordinate attacks!

And as far as electronics go, the GERMAN (not American, British, or Russian) Konrad Zuse, completed the first PROGRAMMABLE digital computer, the Z-1, in 1938.
Look it up:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z1_%28computer%29

By the way, did anyone know that the American uranium bomb was not even tested before it was dropped on Hiroshima? How did they know it was even going to work? Of course, the United States had someone else do all the work for them. Germany. And Germany was defeated right before the United States dropped the uranium bomb. The tests that took place in New Mexico, were of the Plutonium bomb, not the German uranium bomb that the Americans captured. The time tables are close, but perfect.

It was also Australians in the largest surrender in in British Imperial history in Singapore. Australian haven't had many casualties in Afghanistan or Iraq because the brunt of the heavy combat has been taken on by US and UK forces.

The Allies in WW2 were way ahead of the Axis in production techniques, electronics, ship building, and especially nuclear science. The original Sherman tank as designed in 1941 was superior to every tank of the time except the Russia KV-1 and T-34. The bulk of German armour throughout the war were variants of the PzKfw III, PzKfwIV, and the Panzer 38(t) which later Sherman variants were superior to as well.

Bob I have a couple uncles and some cousins that are Aussies too, except they don't get bent outta shape like you.

Australia served im most theatres of the war as well eg: we served in the desert, the pacific and in europe to some extent. (It was mainly Australians bombing thecast before D-Day. We were also the first country to stop Japans advance. The Kokoda track Australian militia out numbered 10-1 held the Japanese off this allowed america to fight back for the pacific (America was meant to help us at New Guinea but never did anything.) admiedlly the Australian army has done stuff before that other armies didnt like eg: In WW1 our lighthorsemen burned down the same street of brothels twice. I cant remember if it was WW1 or WW@ the enemy feared Australian soldiers the most as they tended to be more courageous... but we were also a lot less disaplined, we also pissed off english soldiers a bit by stealing supplies, and no America never has had and never will have a good army want proof? look compare Australian casaulties and American ones for the war on terror also look at what australia has done we have done alot with our 1000 troops over there.

*NOTE* Australia doesnt commit as many war crimes or steal oil like america does and isn't it ironic America paid the Taliban

Yeah all the Aussie have an over inflated sense of themselves. Americans fought in every combat theatre in the war. American armour, aircraft, trucks, ships and electronics supplied every allied military, while the US was fighting a war on two fronts. My father who served in the British army in the India/Burma theatre had a pretty poor opinion of the white Imperial troop and thought them all lazy, racist, and cowardly but he thought the Americans were pretty upstanding so he immigrated to the US in 1947.

He had been along for this ride.

Jim you are an idiot the majority of Germants weren't Nazis, and Germany was a hell of along way ahead of America. One panther could take out several shermans before it was taken out they had the first jets, including the arado 234 (i think) which was a one man jet bomber faster than almost any fighter of the time.
In my opinion the best armies off WW2 in order would be.
German
Japanese
Australian
British
Polish
French
American

BTW im Australian

This article is absolutely ridiculous! I understand that this was Allied propaganda, but it makes us Germans look like complete boneheads! I abhor this display of near racial propaganda! It's practically saying that the Germans relied on machines to make their victories, and thats only half true! The Germans were some of the best tactical minds during that War, in fact the average German infantryman was throughly schooled in small unit tactics! Also take into account that while Americans were using M-1 Garand semi-automatic rifles (the latest in technology at the time) the German troops were using "out-dated" bolt-action K-98 rifles, imagine if you will if Germany had access to semi-automatic rifles at the beginning of the War, what would have happened then? Most of the time the reason why we lost is because we were either out-numbered in men AND material, for example: Stalingrad, Kursk, D-Day, and El Almein. If we Germans hadn't allowed the TRUE bonehead of Adolph Hitler to take command of the German Armies, the Allies would probably be singing a different tune right now! Or perhaps speaking a different language!
