It doomed an entire generation of jet aircraft, such as the Vought F7U Cutlass, and the first incarnation of the F3HN-1 Demon. It resulted in Westinghouse getting out of the turbine business altogether. This is funny, the Westinghouse J40 engine was a miserable failure, ending up years late and delivering less than half the power that was promised. It resulted in Westinghouse getting out of the turbine business altogether.
