		<description>This is interesting -- Dr. LaVerne Philpott was my grandfather. He died in 1991 at the age of almost 89. He is the gentleman seated in the picture at the top of this article. What is really interesting is that his oldest granddaughter (me) was/is an absolute DUNCE at anything to do with science and/or math. I'm also not mechanically inclined. (However, I should say that when it came to, say, following directions to someone's house, I've been better than he was ever since I was a kid!! :) He was a genius in this scientific area, but he did not pass those genes to me AT ALL!! But those were different days in which he worked; if he were alive today, I think he would be AMAZED at all the tech stuff. Well, this was interesting to find him on the web about his work so long ago, so I thought I'd write in a comment. :)</description>
