I was 8 years old in 1954 when my folks bought there first organ. I think it cost $1,200.00 back then which at the time was considered a lot of money in its day.The choice was a Minshall or a Hammond M 3.They bought the Minshall because the salesman talked them into it.Later on they wished that they had bought the Hammond. The Minshall had 52 tubes in it mostly 12AU7's and was plauged with lots problems including contacts getting dirty. One summer they disconneced the built in damp chaser that came with it to conserve electricity which was a bad mistake. With in a month it was so out of tune that it could not be put back in tune.I think that we sold it as junk in 1966.
