Wow that looks simple…

AUTOMATIC RADIO CLOCK TUNES IN STATIONS
A radio set that operates itself has recently been perfected in New York. The control board is fitted with a clock that can be set to start or stop the instrument automatically at any hour of the day or night. The same device may be set to bring in any chosen stations by means of metal tabs inserted in the proper slots.

  1. Ha! Cool! I would have bought that!

I’ve been recording radio shows since I was a teen in the ’70s.

I had various Rube Goldberg setups to start the tape player & tuner by clockwork.

Today it’s almost too easy, with streaming Internet radio & Replay Radio software.

  3. I used to record “The Osgood Report” on WCBS AM at 6:40, 7:40, 8:40, 9:40 and 10:40 am and “The Paul Harvey Show” at 11:45 am and “The Rest of the Story” at 6pm or so on WABC AM.

The way I did it was dual Radio/Cassette Recorders and an X10 controller programmed by my Mac Performa.
(Once programmed, the Mac wasn’t required to be on for it operate.)
Each recorder had its’ own X10 adapter, was pretuned and set to record.

    I’d listen on the commute.

  5. I hope those tabs fit snugly, not loosely. Otherwise, jostle it too much and you lose all your ‘programming’. I’d love to have one of these, though.
