The fellow pictured on the first page is Harley Earl (not HARVEY Earl!),GM’s design chief from the 1930s through the 1950s. Earl was responsible for most of GM’s class car designs, including the Corvette and the ’57 Chevy.

Not only does the design remind me of the car used as the Batmobile in the TV show with Adam West and Burt Ward, but I think it actually inspired how the Batmobile was drawn in the comic book much earlier than that.
