WEAPON FOR MOTORISTS BRANDS THUG WITH DYE (Jan, 1933)

WEAPON FOR MOTORISTS BRANDS THUG WITH DYE
A new weapon for the protection of motorists and shopkeepers not only subdues the most vicious thug, but also brands him for identification in case he should escape. When he is struck with the club-shaped weapon, an airtight membrane breaks, releasing a chemical similar to tear gas and also a spray of aniline dye that indelibly stains, his face, hands, and clothing, thus identifying him.

  1. I wonder what the patent situation is on this thing. I could easily see it coming back…

  2. Oh yeah, I want to get close enough to an attacker to hit them with a stick.
    Need non-lethal, unlicensed protection?
I recommend a can of Easy Off, don’t need to hit the eyes to completely disable anyone. it will mark them better than dye and they won’t be thinking about coming after you…

  4. That woman looks absolutely gleeful! I bet it’s fun to club a thug. Wasn’t thug-clubbing a fad during the early 1930s? It think the clubs were the first big breakthrough product for an upstart novelty toy company called Wham-O. And the rest is history.
