METAL SPHERE IS ROLLING GYMNASIUM

Fun and exercise are provided by a metal sphere devised by two French inventors. By using hand and foot grips within the ball, and shifting his weight in acrobatic maneuvers, an athlete can propel himself about, as shown in the accompanying photograph. Made of a latticework of metal strips, the device rolls in any direction.

  1. Look at the cover photograph.

    Is that a tiltrotor aircraft?

  2. Sorta, I’ll post the article tomorrow, but it’s not what you’re thinking. The rotors never change their axis of rotation, but supposedly the blades change pitch. I don’t think it’d work.

  3. I’d hate to think what would happen if one of his hands or feet slipped out of the ball. They’d get crushed!

  4. It’s an American Gladiator Atlasphere!
