It's an odd place in another way too: it's a bunch of houses converted into laboratory spaces, so you have these $250K ultracentrifuges (to turn DNA or protein extractions into little dandruff specks at the bottom of plastic snap-cap tubes) etc. in what is akin to your parent's basement. Do you know who has the highest average IQ of any "race"? The "nazi" Jews. I hate to leave a book-length comment but these are my random collected notes, which I no time to edit down: White Americans = 106 East Asians = 106 Ashkenazi Jews = 116 (http://www.vdare.com/Sailer/050605_iq.htm ) who are now 80% of Jews, but only 40% within Israel. Jews are over-represented among Nobel prize-winners by a factor of 8.0 in Britain and 12.3 in the United States. At least 176 Jews and persons of half-Jewish ancestry have been awarded the Nobel Prize, accounting for 23% of all individual recipients worldwide between 1901 and 2007, and constituting 37% of all US recipients during the same period.  In the scientific research fields of Chemistry, Economics, Medicine, and Physics, the corresponding world and US percentages are 27% and 40%, respectively.  (Jews currently make up approximately 0.25% of the world's population and 2% of the US population.) Between 1901 and 2006, more than 750 Nobel Prizes were handed out. Of these, at least 158 are Jews.

The lifetime risk for dying of suicide is 1 in 120. The lifetime risk for dying in a terrorist attack is 1 in 69,000, which is significantly less than the risk of dying from a lightning strike. (To be fair, the average American is far more likely to die at the hands of a terrorist than from a shark attack; that lifetime risk is 1 in 3,700,000.) *** White women are three times more likely than black women to breast-feed their babies, they observe, so if more black women did it, IQs might go up. But now it turns out that breast-feeding, too, is a genetically regulated factor. As my colleague Emily Bazelon explains, a new study shows that while most babies gain an average of seven IQ points from breast-feeding, some babies gain nothing from it and end up at a four-point disadvantage because they lack a crucial gene. The study's authors claim it "shows that genes may work via the environment to shape the IQ, helping to close the nature versus nurture debate." That's true if you have the gene. But if you don't, nurture can't help you. And guess what? According to the International Hapmap Project, 2.2 percent of the project's Chinese-Japanese population samples, 5 percent of its European-American samples, and 10 percent of its Nigerian samples lack the gene. The Africans are twice as likely as the Americans, and four times as likely as the Asians, to start life with a four-point IQ deficit out of sheer genetic misfortune.
