There was large scale harvesting machinery built for hemp. It's oils have excellent curative properties. See Rick Simpson Hemp Oil on you tube. Great for omega 3 oils . Hemp fibre was a better fibre for paper than trees. Big money and business in pulp and paper shut that down. Its more renewable than trees . It takes out more CO2 than trees . The US is the only industrialized nation not producing hemp. They spend more tax dollars on eradicating it. It would probably cut into someone's profit making industry that is already established. Pharmaceuticals and fibre. It can be grown in your own backyard. George Washington promoted the plant. Independance ( self sufficiency) is a bad thing for the people of this country, even though it was founded on independance.
