As we all know the usage of a word can change over time. I was in third grade in 1958 and queer was in one of our weekly spelling lessons. There was a story in each lesson that contained the words we were to learn that week. I well remember the passage for the word queer. &quot;The queer man stood behind the fruit stand.&quot; I doubt you would see that in a third grade spelling book now.</description>
