		<description>Bell Labs didn't announce the transistor until June of 1948.  Junction transistors weren't invented until 1951 and they weren't mass produced until 1953.  The first transistor radio hit the market in October of 1954.</description>

		<description>I liked it that they compared the tiny tubes in size to a "half smoked cigarette".

I'm thinking that comparison wouldn't turn up often today!</description>
