The leg and lifting part is actually a minor issue compared to breathing. Insects doesn't breathe with lungs like we do, but instead have lots of small tubes that deliver air directly to the cells. However, this method doesn't scale well and is why insects are as small as they are.

Man, he got everything in it. Giant insects, dinosaurs, venereal disease, the Gobi Desert...I bet this article got cut out and saved by every red-blooded boy in America, and shown to every older sister in America too.

The only thing it lacks is exploding helicopters.

Plus, there's the matter of speculating on a "possibility" in a "distant age" in the first paragraph, with illustrations showing the giant insects in a then-present day street scene.

If the world were to be ruled by insects, why would they have to be giant? Has this Miller guy forgotten what happens when you scale up spindly legs, but keep the gravity the same? An ant the size of an elephant would have to be built like an elephant, and it would no longer be able to lift 50 times its weight. I am suprised this article got by the editors.

Actually I already had it ready, though I wasn't planning on posting it until later in the week. So, your request has pushed back "What Makes Mickey Mouse Move?" until Tuesday. I try to have at least two days worth of posts in the queue, ready to go. Especially since my day job is getting much busier. I can't sneak it in there as much.

It seems as if I requested this article Sunday night and it was posted by Monday morning.
Either Charlie is an insomniac or he was going to post it anyway.
Is it me or was this article all over the place?
Also...
Quack Radium pad ad on the last page.
