2 points:

1st, Vladimir Zworykin worked for Farnsworth in San Francisco for several months, then went back to RCA and then "invented" his kinescope tube.

2nd, Philo did not have the captial tcontinue the legal battles with RCA. He knew that $2500.00 wasn't much. But, the legal battles had drained him of his money and his health.

What a great man. Not only did he play a pivotal part in the invention of television (and we can't blame him for the current state of television "entertainment"), but he also has one of the all-time coolest names. Philo T. Farnsworth? Best. Name. EVAR!

RCA bought the exclusive rights for the image disector for $2500. Farnsworth was not much of a business man and at the time that seemed like a lot of money.

Great article.
Now let's see one where RCA waited for the patents to expire so they wouldn't have to pay roayalties.

Yes Philo Farnsworth and Vladimir Zworykin are the two men responsible for television. Yeah people will point to others as having invented television, especially Baird, but these two created the system we know as television. If not for Farnsworth's Image Disector tube and Zworykin's Kinescope tube television would have never progressed past a curiosity.
