Diver Hunts Sea Monster
Reports of a weird aquatic monster in the waters of White River in Arkansas led to the curious event pictured at the right. Armed with an eight-foot, steel spear, a professional diver clad in rubber suit and helmet was lowered to the river bottom in an attempt to locate the strange creature. So far, however, no explanation of the rumors has been discovered.
Since it’s in the White River, in Arkansas, could it really be termed a “sea” serpent? ‘Cause last time I checked, Arkansas was pretty much landlocked.

Some day, this guy’s spiritual (if not actual) descendent, Kenneth ‘Ahab’ Starr will fail to find the monster of ‘Whitewater’ in the same state.

What’s interesting about a lot of these stories is the fact that scuba diving equipment wouldn’t be invented until the 1940s.
