Intoximeter tests drivers for drunkenness. Below, Trooper Sam Maclntire of the East Lansing, Mich., post gives the test to a fellow officer who simulates a drunken driver.
Well, this invention stuck around.

Hey, I was stopped in East Lansing circa 1986. One big difference - I tried to simulate a SOBER driver.
Didn’t work. The jail was surprisingly clean and quiet.
