In response to above, I bought a Civic CX in 1996 with no radio. Canadian market. Even the antenna was an option.

I wonder when the last new car was sold without a radio?
In 1994, my aunt bought a new Chevy Cavalier with only an AM radio- she didn't want one at all, I thought AM-only was ridiculously outdated!

Car manufacturers are consistently behind the times with sound systems- MP3 connectivity in a car stereo must cost next to nothing at the manufacturer level but they try to get as much extra for it as possible by bundling it with at least a $250 stereo upgrade if not reserving it for the top-of-the-line trim level.

Which is why cars as late as the early 2000s had cassette players, and that 1994 Cavalier had an AM radio...
