Fascism is when the interests of corporations become the interest of the state.
This is usually called "corporatism" by its' modern opponents, because "fascism" as a word is worn-out. I can't say what corporatism is called by its' proponents- they prefer not to call it an "ism" at all.

I never heard Obama attempt to demonize the opposition through absolutely ludicrous arguments such as Goldberg's.

Throughout my reading and research I have found that the extreme left and the extreme right often have many common goals and use similar tactics to achieve them.

Both believe in the control of ideas through censorship, both use emotion and logical fallacy as the basis for their arguments, both seek to control through fear.

"For the uninitiated, Liberal Fascism is a new book by National Review editor Jonah Goldberg that contends that Hitler and Mussolini were committed left-wingers, and that today's liberals are fascism's natural intellectual heirs. While this may sound like yet another Coulteresque quickie aimed at prying some money out of Dittohead Nation, Goldberg insists that it is actually a Very Serious Work that "isn't like any Ann Coulter book" because it presents an argument that "has never been made in such detail or with such care. Goldberg also goes to great lengths from the start of the book to say that he's not really saying liberals are fascists, but hey, here are 400 pages of similarities between liberals and fascists, and if you start associating the two of them by the end of the book, then that's not his fault."

And the quote is from the jacket cover which may or may not have been written by him (although you'd think such a crazy statement wouldn't have just been plucked from thin air by a book publisher).

He does apparently do 'comedy', so maybe in his serious stuff, he thinks things like that will come off funny to his audience.

Or a bitter misogynist who thinks he's a Nice Guy and believes life would be better if all those uppity wimmen would just get in the kitchen and stop having opinions that disagree with his superior intellect.

If it's humour, it sure doesn't seem funny to me.

("Liberal fascist" is up there with "left-wing conservative" anyway.)

The quintessential liberal fascist is a female grade-school teacher with an education degree from Brown or Swarthmore?

He must be a writer for the Onion...right?
