We have rewarded uneducated talk by making it protected. Its ridicule is now close to being a hate crime. All this does is divide us further; I have not seen us come closer to one another but further with the cleansing of seemingly offensive thought and tastes.

"Smartness"?
Has that word fallen into disfavor during the last 78 years?

They did make that movie.
"Check and Double Check"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0020758/
Available on DVD!

Of course, many of their radio shows are available on MP3 CDs.
(Will not play on conventional CD players, but will play in DVD players, PCs and CD players with MP3 compatability.)
Search for OTR (old time radio)

Is it me or one of my alternate personalities that suspects Psycologists of just making things up?

The matter-of-fact racism exhibited in the article (e.g. "Cultured human beings like to display their superiority over inferior classes and races by criticizing their grammar and pronunciation") makes my jaw drop. I understand that it was a different time, but it's still mind-boggling to think that this was the norm at one time. (And sad to think that it still is the norm for some people.)
