		<description>That 2nd Avenue Subway has been on the drawing board for quite a while!
It's worth noting that at the time this was drawn, the 2nd Avenue
elevated railway was still in operation, and it was a steel-darkened
roadway for much of it.  The el was torn down during WWII for the scrap
steel, but the area is still an underserved transit corridor.  

They finally broke ground for tunneling just this past April, and plan
to open in 2020.  If things go as everyone expects, the thing won't open
until a full century after this article was published :)</description>
