Bayonets Thrust into Snow Man by Soldiers at Practice (Mar, 1941)

What are they practicing for? An attack by 10ft snowmen?

Bayonets Thrust into Snow Man by Soldiers at Practice
Encountering a snow man on the grounds of Fort Dix, N. J., two zealous soldiers attached to company L, 174th infantry, took an opportunity to demonstrate an attack with bayonets. National guardsmen and draftees are receiving army training at the fort.

  1. Maybe this is the reason we (USA) got our asses handed to us in Korea in the early 50s

  2. We would have done alot better if we fought the Frosty the Snowman.

  3. Tim,
If it was 1941 these guys probably fought in WW2 so your statement about Korea doesn’t hold up.

  4. Hey, remember- if you’re not with us, you’re with the Giant Snowmen.

  7. Firebrand38, I saw the date of this article. Mine wasn’t a generalization, it was me speculating on why we suck at fighting in the snow. I.E. Fighting snowmen? ok whatever

  8. ok whatever

It was most likely two bored GI’s messing around and a camerman happened to be nearby. Now pardon me but when someone comments on two soldiers in 1941 as being a reason for anything that happened in Korea they should expect someone to say something.

I also don’t stipulate to your generalizations of “asses handed to us ” and “we suck at fighting in the snow”

  9. Must be fun to be young and not as “book smart” as your elders. Read about Korea, or any other cold weather operation in american military history before you make comments like the above. And , yes, we have always had our asses handed to us during winter. Read anything other than wiki.

  10. Young? Who do you think you’re talking to? Partner, if you make this about who I am you’re gonna lose. Wiki as a prime source? Figure the odds. Tell you what, try learning about the Korean War from someplace other than watching old MASH reruns.

  11. How about learning it from survivors of the Korean war. Ones who watched their buddies freeze to death with innadaquit equipment. Summer coats and light clothing for 40 below zero battle.
Incomplete or incorrect training. Learn about the nightmare of Chosen from one who has survived it. Get a life, lord knows you wouldn’t keep yours in battle.

  13. Look Mr. Simpson, If you spent as much time learning about what you should have learned in the Army instead of being a porn freak on vintage teenie forums you may have learned what every american knows already. People like you only believe what they want to believe.

You being a friend of marines doesn’t cover the fact that you are a sad man. More interested in seeing naked women and underage girls. have a nice day John. Again, get a life. Sgt. Slaughter\Michael Jackson wannabe.
