Radio Looks Like Couple of Books
A NEW radio receiver now on the market has the appearance of a pair of gorgeously bound books, as shown above. One lid opens up to give access to the tuning and volume knobs and the loud speaker.
My grandmother has one of these, but it’s a model using highly miniaturized tubes that looks like one book instead of two. It uses battery sizes that are impossible to find now, unfortunately, so I’ve never heard it play.
I was curious so I looked up what one of these are going for today; a 1930’s Stewart Warner Book Radio is currently for sale at $575.
