Goldilocks – what a wonderful story! I always used to wonder about couples who found each other this way – until my sister met her husband via a similar service about 10 years ago. It’s good to hear they’ve been doing good for such a long time.

Interesting article…I am searching for information regarding Compair Systems, Inc…also a computer dating service that originated in the 1960′s. They were located at 194 Nassau St, Princeton, NJ 08540..touted as “The People Matching People” There was also a satellite office in California. I am a 68 year old African American female who met my “soul mate” in the late 60′s and married him 6 months later. On our 1st date we spent the entire night talking, pouring our hearts out and realizing that we had found what we thought to be the impossible…true love..He was a student who became an engineer and I, a teacher. We became proud parents of 2 daughters. I recently lost my “soulmate” to cancer. We were fans of Gene Shalit but never saw the article on computer dating…My husband found the ad for “Compair in “Popular Mechanics” and I in a women’s magazine..his little black book had expired post air force service and I was teaching in an elementary school with an all female staff…We were married 6 months after meeting. Can and does computer dating work ? A resounding yes ! We had evidently attended the same parties earlier, knew some of the same people and yet never reached out to each other…until…the computer we submitted our questionaire and $10 to decided that we should. Once we met, instantaneous chemistry…kudos to computers !!!

So basically what your saying is that back in 1966 Mr. Shalit should have asked your father in law if he was a child molester before he wrote about him?

Dr. Benson Snyder is my father-in-law. I am married to his eldest daughter Ellen whom he raped when she was a teenager. He also sexually abused his three other daughters continuously during their childhood. He is an unrepentant sexual predator who has not yet been prosecuted for his crimes.

Mr. Shalit…you may want to use a more credible expert for such an article in the future.

Computers and love are found far earlier in fact. For example the “Moonbillies” had a song named “‘lectronic brain”. I don’t know the year, but I think that was earlier.
