In his guise as Charley Weaver, Cliff Arquette was one of the most frequent guests on the Tonight Show during the early sixties when Jack Paar was host. He would appear in costume and read a “letter from Mama”. Later on he became the center square on Hollywood Squares before Paul Lynde took that position.

It's probably worth mentioning that this is the same Cliff Arquette who went on to create the character of "Charley Weaver" (as seen on the Hollywood Squares). He's also the grandfather of actors Patricia, Rosanna, and David Arquette. Not a bad run for a garage tinkerer.
