From the front, the side, the rear, even if the victim is kneeling in front, the pistol can be taken between 0.5 to 1.5 seconds. It's pretty amazing to witness live. My instructor is amazing; he essentially says that the perp might as well hand the pistol to you, since it will be taken away before a shot is fired. I'm relatively quick with front and rear disarmament, but some of the other techniques I am still working on. With a little practice, you can pick it up relatively easily. Go to YouTube and search under "krav maga', you will be able to find quite a few videos of these simple techniques in action. However this technique doesn't work if you have to take a step forward first to reach the gun.
