This has to be the same person, right? What would the odds of two turn of the last century racers having lion sidecars.

It’s not the same person but it might be the same lion. It would be marginally easier to find two people to drive a motorcycle with a lion in the sidecar than it would be to find two lions trained to sit in a sidecar.

This is not so strange — I, too, never venture forth without my baby lion.

If you look at the background of the picture above… it seems to be the same sort of setup (I can’t remember what it’s called) as in the picture in the link. The boards seem to be at an angle and arranged in a circle, to form the… thing (barrel-of-death?). So perhaps they’re all part of the same circus/show/etc.?
It’d help if I could remember exactly what that thing that they’re racing around inside of is called.

“Pet baby lion”? Good thing he didn’t get a “baby pet lion” or a “lion cub,” because those one get a lot bigger over time.
