		<description>I heard there was a 1915 era proposal to the Royal Navy for the creation of television guided, remote controlled flying bombs. So various types of cruise missiles and SAMS have been proposed for some time (including beam riders, television guided, MCLOS etc.) its just that the technology hasn&#039;t been up to the job until recently (and SAMS may soon replace UAVs and aircraft for some roles)</description>

		<description>These things would have worked in a similar fashion to the old Nike surface to air missiles of the 1950s. The differences . . . the Nikes were rocket propelled of course and rather than using sound and light to guide them the nikes used radar. Otherwise the idea was pretty much the same in both cases. Interesting.</description>
