I purchase one in 1979. I got the silver as I could not aford the gold version. Had it for 3 days and the magnetic switch failed, so I could not use it. Sent it back for repairs and never seen it since. Cool watch, I wonder if they are still around today.

I remember this ad from when it was originally published. I think it stuck in my memory because the copy writing is so stylistically bizarre–obviously no actual advertising professionals were involved–and because even at the time it seemed like such an extraordinarily bad deal. I remember wondering, “is this what rich people really spend their money on?” As it turns out, the answer is “no.”
