If you are indeed the only one in this world then who are you talking to?

There are 5 houses in five different colors
In each house lives a different nationality.
These 5 owners drink a certain beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar and keep a certain pet.
No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage.

The CLUES:

The Brit lives in the Red house.
The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
The Dane Drinks tea.
The Green House is on the left of the White House.
The Green House's owner drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
The man in the center house drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats
The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
The German smokes Prince.
The Norwegian lives next to the Blue House.
The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water.
The QUESTION:

Who owns the fish?

there really is no neighborhood like the village. i've been there for years and wouldn't live anywhere else. what part of it did you grow up in? did you go to ps 41?

are you looking to rent or buy? i know a landlord/managing agent (so you don't pay a fee because he owns or manages the buildings) who is a real stand-up guy. shoot me an email if you're interested and i'll send you his contact info.

Hope you enjoy your change of coasts! I've visited both from the UK and loved them both, though they are like different countries and I can see how you'd be homesick.

Take your time over the packing and the move, we'll wait!

No fair! Don't come back until I've found my new place!

I can't imagine what the cost of a decent apartment in Greenwich Village is these days. I'm such a hoi polloi. The best value in Manhattan is Inwood. The good areas of Brooklyn are getting over-priced.

Beer boxes (18 packs of bottles) are good for magazines and books- they are small and sturdy and have built in handles.

For moving a large collection cross country I'd suggest considering boxing, palleting, wrapping and freighting them.

I'd love to do guest posts of technology and gadget things from my Better Homes and Gardens magazines, but I too am in the midst of relocating and looking for a roommate. Hey, if you're willing to move to MA (only a 4 hour drive to NYC!) you could share my charming new duplex.

Good luck!

Have you considered mailing them? You said you have family in the area and you could send multiple shipments so that you don't have to deal with 1000 magazines at once. I recommend durable boxes that fit the magazines as snugly as possible without having to force them in. If you do mail them, be sure to reenforce the corners and seams, just in case.

Send me a bagel after you get settled, I miss having real ones.

Good look on the move. I know how it is to be so far away from home/family.

The lull in postings, will be difficult for some of us, but only because you have spoiled us with this awesome treasure for so long.

good luck on your move
as am in the UK cant help much
as for the boxes, you might try asking your local libarrraarrryy or museum for advice
or move without them then buy them all on email with a fake cheque book and let the seller
sort it out, that will show em. eh..... errr. sorry

best of luck

or move without them then buy them all on email with a fake cheque book and let the seller
sort it out, that will show em. eh….. errr. sorry

Congrats on your move. Consider going to your local Barnes and Noble and asking for boxes, also. After all, the boxes are designed to carry books and magazines. The liquor boxes are a good idea, also.

Best of luck on your move and just wanted to say I love this site!

I can't help on the NYC side (guess where I am?) but the magazines, maybe. I moved a half ton or so years ago by bumming liquor store boxes of the right size, numbered them, and wrote a log of what (more or less) went into each box. Didn't always fill the boxes, as they get heavy fast. Bottle boxes are pretty damned solid and can support some weight.
