Hi,
I read your blog recently and want to correct what you wrote about Constantinesco. Constantinesco was a Romanian engineer and he invented his transmission not few years ago but 90 years ago!! He produced cars (exhibited at Motor Shows in Paris and London in 1925) and lienced his technology to GM. He was also inventor of other 200 odd patents including machine gun synchroniser used on allies aircraft in the 1st world war.

Spats protect your shoes from mud splashes. They were originally called "spatterdashes," a marvelously onomatopoeic word.

I thought that spats or gaiters was a technique to cover up worn out shoes or are they to snakeproof the ankles?
