“Idea” car turns a station wagon into a recreational vehicle

Toyota recently unveiled this jazzy-looking station wagon at the New York auto show. The station wagon (bottom photo) opens into a roomy camper (top). Toyota calls this 186-inch-long car the RV-2. It seats four, and stores in any garage. But the clamshell canopy can be unfolded anytime you’re parked, and there’s enough room for the passengers to eat and sleep inside. Beds, table, and chairs store neatly inside when not in use.

Unfortunately, there are no definite plans to produce this unique RV, but it’s interesting to see auto manufacturers cooking up some attractive new ideas.

  2. That is the same phone that I used to have (and the last take-along phone I’ll ever own)

  3. That is the same phone that I used to have (and the last take-along phone I’ll ever own) It took really lousy pictures, the ring tone was just a ringing sound, it couldn’t access the interweb, play videos on a tiny screen, play music that I’d stolen, and I had to have all my pants altered to make it fit in my pocket.

  6. I *know* I’ve seen that – must have been at an autoshow.

I’ve spent a week in a VW Westfalia – this Toyota would be incredibly cramped. But the profile would have made Simon Templar proud.
