When they figure out how to do anti-gravity drive, we will have flying saucers. Air vehicles are doomed to failure.

Rick@4 is right, the air-traffic control system seems specifically designed to make it difficult to use anything but airports for flight. of course the danger of crazy flyers over populated areas is real.

All of these "Fly out of your garage" aircraft are such a joke. People can't drive cars properly in two dimensions, so naturally adding a third dimension to navigate makes so much sense.

The US still has a "manual" air traffic control system, which requires verbal radio communication in crowded flight areas. In large cities, there would never be enough radio channels (and controllers) to handle the constant communication.

This is going to take off from a graveled back yard - forcing blast air down and then sucking air over the top of the low wings and through the propeller? After it breaks maybe it can be used as a wood chipper.

The saucer-shape is actually quite unstable in forward flight, which might explain why we aren't flying around in these even after fifty years.
