I am always curious about hotels with a number of floors — do they have a room “666″?

To Chinese and Japanese “4″ is bad luck, since the Chinese term for “four” and “death” are both
“shi” — the Japanese picked up the Chinese terms for both, though I think the original Japanese
wording for four, “yon”, is preferred. You want to irritate Chinese or Japanese, give them four of

My only superstitions are ones which are deeply rooted in practicality - don't walk under a ladder which someone is standing on, be wary of pigeons (or other birds) sitting overhead, etc.
