According to the article http://greyfalcon.us/Mercedes%20T80.htm the car never was painted with a swastika so that was probably only a prewar artist's conception.

But STP and Andy Granatelli fielded a turbine car at Indianapolis min 1967.

And this article (http://www.autopuzzles.com/Indy1967.htm) says there were several before that, even.

They did run an exhibition turbojet car at Indy a few years later by itself. They claimed it was only used to do research on tires and brakes. It had the familiar high pitch whine, very low acceleration, poor braking power and could not really "smoke" the track like the piston cars of that day (nor this day!). I got to see it run. Maybe someone can find early pictures and dates that it did Indianapolis exhibition runs.
