I wouldn’t mind seeing something like this come back. I.e. vending machines right at the pump. I’d be much more likely to buy a pack of gum or a bottle of pop if I didn’t have to take the time to go in and stand in line to get it. Some Sheetz stations have touchscreen panels at the pump that let you order their sandwiches, smoothies, coffees, etc., but you still have to go in to get them.

It looks like Goober the pump jockey would take your money and give you merchandise from the case (and your change) while the pump was putting the tiger in your tank. It’s not self-serve or a vending machine.

Think of it as a “point of sale display” – gum, batteries, magazines and phone cards are sold like that all over the place.
