I bought my house with stamps.

Well, not really. But I happened to purchase some uncut sheets of a commemerative stamp that featureed a hologram, and noticed a few of the sheets had some of the holograms missing. A stamp exposition was coming up, so I went there and showed one sheet around - and got quite a bit of money for it. I sold the remaining two sheets in the following months (there was no 'book price' for them yet, so I didn't want to sell them all at once.)

That pushed my financial situation into a position that I could afford a down payment, which would have taken me several years more to save up for without the stamps.

I never did find out the 'book value' of the irregular stamps, and don't want to.
