LOTTERY-MACHINE RENDERS DECEIT IMPOSSIBLE
WHEN the exhibition-halls in the Kaiserdam, Berlin, opened for the 6th Internationl Bureau Exhibition, the first electric-automatic lottery machine in the world was among the many new inventions. This machine was created in an attempt to remove the human element from gambling devices. The possibility of a crook “throwing” the lottery to friends has been the chief fault of such games. This machine, by operating automatically from the drawing of lots to the posting of result lists, removes the human hand and thus makes deceit utterly impossible. Such a gambling device should meet with the favor of all interested in such games, for every one has an even “break” when playing.
I wonder how much RAM this thing had?

I like the authors’ confidence in this system; not “makes deceit difficult” or “discourages deceit”, but “renders deceit IMPOSSIBLE”. Sounds like a challenge for the deceivers!
