		<description>I remember a car we made when I was about 12 that had no throttle in the conventional sense. Instead, the speed was controlled by adjusting the tension of the drive belt - basically a slip clutch.

We did that because the centrifugal clutch on the motor was too hair-trigger to be useful. It was an Iron Horse motor from an old Maytag washing machine, with a step-on starter (effectively under 1 HP as I recall, but probably rated 2HP.)</description>
