Movie tie-in with James Cagney saying your company's catch-phrase:

Not so good, actually.

(That "?20°C" in my comment was, of course, meant to be MINUS 20°C. Typical storage temperatures for pepsin are actually often a lot lower.)

rick: Yeah, you probably won't find it in local stores. Either order it using the link that I provided or I've found it at the Cost Plus World Market Stores.

Hi Daniel. All I remember about it is that it tasted great to me as a kid. And thanks, Firebrand. I haven't had a stick of chewing gum for decades but I'll keep an eye out for Beeman's in the local stores now that I know it's still around. I hope it still tastes the same if I manage to locate some.

Note that if this "pepsin gum" actually contained any digestion-enhancing pepsin enzyme, it would need to be stored at at least ?20°C to prevent the enzyme from breaking down.

I'm sure Rick remembers the thrill of reaching between the dry-ice bricks to extract each delicious flesh-destroying pellet... :-)

(Alt-med hucksters still commonly sell "dietary supplements" that're supposed to contain digestive enzymes of one kind or another. Why it is that these supplements do not digest themselves into puddles on the health-food-store shelves is never explained.)

I don't know if Beemans is still around but when I was a kid it was my favorite chewing gum. It really had a unique flavor of its own. It never made me want to climb buildings, though.
