Finds Universe Built of Waves
ANOTHER proof that the whole universe is constructed out of some mysterious kind of wave or vibration, finer in structure than the supposed ultimate particles of matter such as atoms, has been obtained by a Japanese physicist, Dr. Y. Sugiura of the Tokyo Institute of Physical and Chemical Research.
The electric particles called protons, which combine with electrons to form all known kinds of atoms, have been proved to have the properties of waves, just as was proved several years ago for electrons.
I’ed think getting a decent shot going at speed would be impossible...
HA! I *knew* the universe was made out of something or other!

Quantum mechanics dates to Max Planck’s 1900 paper on black body radiation. Schrodinger got into the fray in 1926 trying to confirm or disprove a set of equations on the wave nature of electrons.

Unfortunately for the Japanese, while folks in Alamogordo were working on splitting the atom, Dr Sugira was having less luck with his attempts at splitting the wave.

The universe has no problem dividing by zero. That the result is undefined is simply returning to its original state.

KD5ZS: It’s more involved than that. Reluctant as I am to use Wikipedia as a primary reference this is a useful article on the subject http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divide_by_zero
I tend to the meaningless category with division by zero being an accepted construct rather than a universal law.
My problem was him saying that the universe has no problem dividing by zero (where? when?) followed by the nonsensical “That the result is undefined is simply returning to its original state.”
It just smacked too much of Deepak Chopra’s crap.

My pocket calculator also has a problem dividing by zero.
On the other hand a square root of a negative number, forming a complex number has many applications in engineering.
