Be a clock watcher… (Apr, 1965)
Be a clock watcher…
like this president who built his new plant in SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA Perhaps you know him. A sign on his office wall reads “Time is money — ours and yours!” This service-conscious president runs his business like clockwork, from ordering the raw materials to shipping the product on a “guaranteed arrival” schedule.
Location of the new plant was a critical decision and he knew it. This clockwork-operation required a plant site to be near airport, truck, and rail services. He insisted on proximity to his western markets. He must be next door to allied industries, suppliers and raw materials. Highly skilled labor was another “must!”
Of course, he also wanted a site that would provide low cost land with all utilities in and ample expansion possibilities. Another important point was reasonable construction costs. Inexpensive, one-story buildings to be more specific. What he really wanted was a site that would let him operate efficiently, like”clock-work.”
Quite an order. But not impossible because San Jose qualifies.
