Billing Clerk “Wears” Pencil on Index Finger
One billing clerk solved the problem of always having a pencil at hand by wearing it on his finger. To do this, a holder was shaped from a piece of spring brass as shown. This left both hands free for handling packages and boxes, yet by merely crooking the finger the pencil was brought into service for checking items.
That must have worked great, especially when you absent mindedly reach up to scratch your nose and end up jamming a pencil into your eye.
i bet he did not have ears to put the pencil behind them…
