.Newest thing in pool: elliptical table
Combination billiards and pool is played on this table with an elliptical cushion and a single pocket on one of its two focal points. A ball hit to pass over the other focal point rebounds into the pocket every time. The table was designed by Arthur P. Frigo Jr., Union College senior, and is made by Gotham Educational Equipment, New Rochelle, N.Y. Game is played with nine numbered balls and a cue ball.

BATTLEVISIONBACK in January 1952 Mechanix Illustrated ran a story called Why Don’t We Have Battlevision? In it we suggested that the generals of the future might be able to see the progress of battles on television screens from the relative safety of their headquarters. The series of photographs on this page show the U.S. Army using this very system to observe cadets during battle maneuvers at the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. Mobile Signal Corps camera units at the front relay the complete television coverage of the sham battle back to commanding officers four miles away.

For a new magic in music is about to be born that will make today’s electronic reproduction sound like the rankest kind of cacophony by comparison. The new electronic band will breathe the breath of life; it will take on new color, new brilliance and a faithfulness that will permit it to escape once and for all the stinging criticism now levelled at it by our impresarios.
.TITLE WRITER BOON TO AMATEUR MOVIE FANS
Amateur movie-making enthusiasts may prepare their own titles, including animated ones, with the aid of a new title writer. This device, an illuminated stand with an easel at front and a place for the camera at the rear, works in three positions. When set at an angle, as shown above, it permits a hand to be photographed drawing a title. A vertical setting films movable letters for an animated title.
