Plastic Raincoat for Hats (Oct, 1946)
Plastic Raincoat for Hats
A civilian adaptation of the waterproof hat covers worn by service men during the war is now available. Called Rainat, the cover is made of transparent vinyl plastic film, and is provided in three sizes. An elastic band makes it easily adjustable to various widths of brim. When not in use, the Rainat can be folded to the size of a handkerchief, put in an envelope, and carried in even a small pocket (inset) as insurance against sudden rain. Nearly any size of man’s hat can be protected by the cover.

I thought the hat was to keep the rain off?
