I wonder if this was a jab at the Lockheed Constellation which, although a beautiful plane, was definitely not shaped like a straight cylinder.
The italicized text about the straight-line and single tail is definitely a jab at the Lockheed Constellation, which not only has a shortage of straight lines visible in its fuselage, but also has a triple vertical tail.
I don’t know which provided more interior room per passenger.
I think at least half of the listed carriers are no longer in business.
Not to mention that Douglas (McDonnell Douglas) is now part of Boeing
I don’t know which provided more room per passenger, but they all provided more room than any current commercial airliner.
