Formerly known as the S.S. Manchuria, a troop transport during World War 1 and 2.
I’ve got to wonder just how much luxury you’d find in those 1st class outside cabins….

It doesn’t say luxury, it says “first class.” And if they’re all first class, there’s no second or third class to compare them to.

That said, wasn’t the Queen Mary used as a troop transport during the war(s)? She was as posh as the Poseidon or better.

In fact, the ship started life as a civilian passenger liner back in 1903; so despite being pressed into service in two world wars, it was originally designed for luxury travel.

Interesting – the company, “Dollar Lines” (named after its founder, Mr. Dollar) morphed into the American President Line (with all the ships, like this one, named after US Presidents), and is currently a container ship company named APL,

It’s not actually the same company, but it has a sort of continuance.

Couldn’t they have thought up a better company name? “Come take our Boring tour!”

Charlene: one of the inventors of Superman was Wayne Boring.
