50-STAR AMERICAN FLAG (Jun, 1960)

I know this ad is for a stamp, but it made me wonder about flag makers lobbying for an extra state. It would make a great attack ad for people arguing against a vote for Puerto Rico becoming a state. “Puerto Rican statehood, paid for by Big Flag”.

Think about the employment boom there would be for bad commercial artists, to replace all those “eagle crying in front of flag” gifs.

Alaska became the 49th State in January of 1959. Are there and Flags made between that date and when Hawaii became a state? I’d like to see a flag with 49 stars on it.

Yeah- I guess so. I lived through that period and never saw one. I seem to remember Alaska and Hawaii becoming states at the same time. 49 star flags WERE MADE.
