Are you one of the VERTICAL DEAD

This man stands . . . he walks . . . he talks … he goes to work … he supports a wife and children . . . BUT HE IS DEAD!

Most of us start out in life full of hopes and plans and ambitions. We are going to be a great success. But somewhere along the way we start settling into a rut… a low-paying rut. What’s the reason? Fate? Perhaps. More likely, though, the reason for our limited success is quite commonplace. We start out by taking a job that we really don’t want, we get married, buy a house perhaps, have children. And there are bills to be paid, emergencies to be met, and one year follows another pretty fast, and we’re still not on the road to any real goal. We know we have the ability to do better things. We just don’t know where to start, what to do. If that is true of you, and if you really want to do something about getting ahead, here is a book that will show you exactly what steps to take right now . . .

Here is a practical, tested formula for success that even now is bringing dollars-and-cents results for those who have used it to better their lot in life. It will help you turn dissatisfaction into triumph, enrich your life, and above all—put more cash into your pocket. Just look at the kind of down-to-earth, money-making techniques you get: HOW TO INCREASE YOUR OWN POWER TO THINK AND TO BUILD Even as you read this there is within you a hidden power that you must recognize and develop if you hope to increase your income.

How to take stock of yourself and uncover the latent and unique abilities you possess.

HOW TO GET MONEY FOR YOUR IDEAS Once you get a good idea, there are 5 simple rules you must follow if you hope to turn it into money.

HOW TO DOUBLE YOUR ENERGY A basic 5-second “exercise” you can perform that will help you relax both your mind and your body, help you feel less tired.

HOW TO FIND YOUR PLACE IN LIFE How to find out what kind of job or business will bring you the greatest wealth and happiness.

HOW TO SET YOUR GOAL AND WORK YOUR PLAN How much money do you want? What would you consider “success?” This book gives you a workable, step-by-step Plan that will guarantee success.

Don: No you’re not! You’ll be stone dead in a moment!…

It will get better when we have a GOP president– in the meantime I’ve decided to live like a monk and be dead to the world.

What I would like is to have some psychic abilities so that I could win that lotto and simply disappear.

KD5ZS: Not if he thinks that the solution to our problems is mandating school prayer and teaching creationism in school or if she needs to have why there are two Koreas explained to her.

I see a new horror film in the making…

    ‘Night Of The Vertical Dead’

Tagline: “They stand…they walk…they talk…they go to work…they support their wives and kids…BUT THEY ARE DEAD”

Sorry, I don’t think that I’m coming back to life until 2013 or 2017 depending on the outcome of the elections. I’m a defense/aerospace type and I’ve suffered every time a democrat was in the white house. My last project was the B-1B and we all know what Carter did to the original B-1.

KD5ZS: I was in the Army during the Carter administration so you have a fellow traveler here. We’ll have to commiserate over a beer sometime.

All I know is when Bush took office the US government had a budget surplus, unemployment was 4.2%, we were at peace, and I had a job. When Bush left office the government had record budget deficits, unemployment was 8.1%, we had two unresolved wars, and I had been unemployed for ten months.

  11. Firebrand38 says: April 23, 20103:05 pm

JMyint: Fair enough, all but the peace thing. If Clinton got his 3rd term something tells me the WTC would still have been attacked, no?

  12. JMyint says: April 23, 20103:12 pm

But would it have takene 9 years to resolve Afghanistan? And don’t get me started about the unprovoked invasion of Iraq. Just where are those wmds?

  13. Firebrand38 says: April 23, 20103:39 pm

JMyint: Yeah, if only we could get a Democratic President and both Houses of Congress! Err, never mind!

As for the Raiders of the Lost WMDs, I chalk that up to the same things as “Remember the Maine” for the Spanish-American war and the Tonkin Gulf Resolution for LBJ and Vietnam.

Related to the “vertical dead”, I’ve heard workplace humor where some people referred “RIP” workers. RIP in this case stands for “Retired In Place”. It’s a term used to describe older workers who are unenthusiastic and do the bare minimum to avoid getting fired, just hanging on until the pension kicks in.

You know, it’s always refreshing and unusual to have American politics brought up when it has nothing to do with the topic in question. It’s not like Americans do this everywhere online, as if they were desperate to turn every single article ever into a whine about American USA USA USA politics as if the rest of the world (and the rest of the US that doesn’t involve politics) didn’t matter.

  16. KD5ZS says: April 24, 201011:45 am

Well I wouldn’t mind coming back to life, but the project that I was working on had its funding cut, resulting in my layoff.

I don’t think I’ve ever met a man who underestimates his ability but I’ve met plenty of women, at least among college students.

Oops…. Maybe I should have read it.

“The Vertical Dead”; is that the PC term for “Zombies”?
